ACF hails Okorocha’s victory

The pan northern socio-political organisation, ArewaConsultative Forum, has hailed Governor Rochas Okorocha’s victory in the re-run election of April 25 in Imo State.Okorocha defeated the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Emeka Ihedioha, in the re-run election.In a statement by the Secretary-General of the ACF, Col. John Ubah (retd) in Kaduna on Monday, the Forum also commended the people of Imo State for standing by “a performer and bridge builder.”The ACF said, “Arewa Consultative Forum heartily congratulates His Excellency, Chief Rochas Okorocha, on his well deserved victory at the polls to retain his governorship of Imo State for another term.“ACF equally commends the Imo State electorate for standing by a performing, recognised pragmatic leader, a bridge builder and true proud son of Nigeria.“Chief Rochas was the only aspirant who deemed it necessary to visit ACF before the Presidential party primaries when the ACF leadership unequivocally assured His Excellency of the Forum’s policy to stay behind any Northerner who wins his/her party presidential ticket.”The Forum also urged Nigerians to hold their elected leaders at the just concluded elections accountable in line with their oath.The statement further read, “Nigerian’s choice on March 28, 2015 has vindicated ACF stand and we call on all Nigerians to remain steadfast in our faith in one united Nigeria and to give our fledgling democracy a chance to keep waxing stronger.“All Nigerians must strive to hold our leaders accountable in line with their various oaths of office and constitutional responsibilities.“As we congratulate all newly elected state governors and legislators, especially those who retain their offices and seats, we hope that all will work hard to justify the confidence and trust reposed in them by their people for the craved change, change of style by leaders and change of attitude by all of us, the governed.”
