Delta State Government, has vowed to take appropriate actions against Student Union Governments, SUGsin its tertiary institutions in the event of violent protests that could lead to destruction of properties.The State Commissioner for Higher Education, Mr. Charles Emetulu, who stated this during his familiarization visit to the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro blamed the March 4, 2015 violent protest of students of the polytechnic on the ineptitude of the institution’s SUG.“I summoned them (the SUG leadership) to Asaba and I told them that henceforth this school is in their care and that they cannot afford not to know what students are doing. If they have been elected to represent interest of students, then they must be at least two steps ahead of the students. Next time we would allow the law to take its due course,” he said.
