The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, disclosed this to State House journalists on Thursday.
Abati said Jonathan signed the bill last Wednesday, the same day, he noted, he (the president) received it from the Senate.
"The president has signed the Administration of Criminal Justice Bill 2015. He signed it the same day he received it from the National Assembly. With that development, the bill is now an Act," the presidential aide said.
The bill, passed last Tuesday by the upper legislative chamber, sought to promote efficient management of criminal justice institutions, protect the rights and interests of suspects, defendants and victims.
The Senate Committee Chairman on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Senator Umaru Dahiru, had noted that the bill had merged and consolidated the Criminal Procedure Code applicable in the northern and southern parts of the country.
The legislator had also said the bill had also unified the criminal procedure of the Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory with that of all Federal High Courts in the country.
