Sack Bala Mohammed now, Northern Group tells Jonathan

FOLLOWING irreconcilable differences between Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, Senator Bala Mohammmed following the governor’s claim that the minister hired thugs that stoned the president’s convoy in Bauchi last Thursday, a group under the aegis, Northern Alliance Group has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to immediately sack the Minister. The Northern Alliance Group urged Senator Mohammed to tender an unreserved apology to Governor Isa Yuguda as refusal to do so would be tantamount to biting the fingers that fed him and disrespecting the one under whose political tutelage he emerged.According to the group, Senator Mohammed must leave the Federal ExecutiveCouncil, FEC for calling his political godfather a mole in the All Progressives Congress, APC and one who pretends to be working for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the afternoon and APC in serious terms, working for the APC.In a statement signed yesterday in Abuja by Idris Sanni, and made available to Journalists, the group said such misguided statements at this critical stage of the presidential campaign was capable of causing bad blood between Mr. President and the governors who are his most reliable allies in his re-election bid.According to the group, President Jonathan must take seriously Governor Yuguda’s allegation that the FCT minister along with his fellow conspirators were behind the stoning of the President at the rally in Bauchi, adding, “Senator Bala Mohammed since he could not realise his dream of becoming governor of Bauchi state has been bitter and thought himself and his supporters will be embarrassing Governor Isa Yuguda by their actions and we are aware that those arrested are confessed Bala Mohammed supporters”the statement said. The Northern Alliance Group further described Sen. Bala Mohammed’s actions as typical of many of Mr. President’s ministers who put their personal interest ahead of their duties and commitment to President Jonathan. The group said, “We are advising the President not to fall for this cheap ploy as the governors including Governor Yuguda are more important to him at this stage and not ministers like Bala Mohammed who do not have any electoral value in their states.”
